| Chrome Pony Trailers offer a revolutionary trailer loading and unloading system for Motorcycles, ATVs, Custom Cars etc... |
|---|
Article by: Bill Rogers of Midnight Sun Rider Magazine Need a lift? New Self Loading Trailer Chrome Pony Trans-Sport has announced a new innovation for the rider who needs a lift. The Chrome Pony Trans-Sport Self Loading Trailer can be customized to each individual's needs or desires. From a simple flat bed, to an ornate palace for your bike, trike, or show car complete with living quarters, and a shop. This self loading system was the brain child of Frank Shirley of Konawa , Oklahoma . He developed it as a result of his own difficulties loading his motorcycle into a more traditional trailer. The system works by simply riding the bike onto a skid with a gentile ramp. Park it, tie it down, and press a button on the outside of the trailer. According to the manufacturer, it's that simple. The skid moves into the trailer, and locks itself into place. This saves the hassle of negotiating steep ramps, climbing through the trailer with limited space in order to secure the motorcycle and the danger of the bike falling on top of someone with limited mobility. |

Shirley said this about the benefits of his design “Imagine a rider that is wheelchair bound that wants to take his trike to Sturgis. This trailer would provide a new level of independence, not to mention the pride of just having something so cool.” Cool seems to be a bit of an understatement. Shirley told us “They are custom built for the individual buyer, a low end basic self loading trailer would start at around $9,000 and would be large enough for a single large bike, such as a Gold Wing, Trike, or two smaller bikes like a couple of Sportsters. A high end trailer for two, maybe three bikes depending on the width, (such as) fully loaded dress bikes with a nice forward storage compartment and an overall very well equipped trailer would cost about $20,000. In reality the high end is only limited by the imagination and budget of the buyer.” |
